Traditional Chinese Medicine has been a main source of health management in Asia for thousands of years. Local Acupuncturists were trained to treat a wide range of health concerns. This is still the case today, with highly trained physicians working in both private practice and in hospitals throughout the world.

As with any holistic approach, receiving acupuncture is not simply taking a pill and carrying on as before. Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture recognises that all health and wellness matters are set up by many underlying factors. Treatment aims to shed light on each contributing piece, so acceptance, prevention, and/or longer term resolution can take place to improve wellbeing and health autonomy.

By the time treatment is sought, the body has often been in an adapted mode of operating for some time. Body awareness training to learn more about the body with lifestyle changes is a big part of creating lasting symptom changes and improved wellness.

No matter what what your condition, seeking treatment is a choice and an investment in your wellbeing. This can be done by combining the best medications and stratigies given from a western medicine perspective, and/or choosing an alturnitive such as traditional chinese medicine to experiance how to manage the same things in a different, often more natural way.

Initial Acupuncture appointments are 1 hour long. This enables me to get a full health history and sense of how each part of your body (and mind) are working together. We then discuss a comprehensive plan to set goals, followed by treatment to start things off.

Follow-up sessions are normally 45mins. Ideally sessions are spaced close together for the first week, as acupuncture has a cumulative effect. Then dependent on what we are working on after a few sessions we can start spacing treatments out and/or drop down to a 30min session to keep costs down.

Dependent on the condition and how long you have had symptoms, a course of acupuncture may be up to 4-8 weeks of weekly treatments to see results. Although patients often report feeling better within themselves much earlier.

Once symptoms and/or managment goals are met, future courses may be prescribed (often quarterly) to maintain.

As well as supporting what you came in for, use of regular Acupuncture for relaxation can also become a really good tool in the prevention and/or management against the effects of stress on symptoms, as part of your wellness regime.
